    See my comments added at the bottom of that March 2010 post re: independent minyan. The term "havurah" and sometimes "independent havurah" was certainly in use prior to 1985 (the National Havurah Committee was founded before then, and several groups were termed a "minyan", as in the "Westwood Free Minyan" - see more in my comments).
